St George's Clinical Research Facility
What Areas of Medicine Do We Cover?

Research across a wide range of specialties

At the NIHR St George’s Clinical Research Facility, we support clinical research across a broad range of medical and surgical specialties.

Our teams work with hospital consultants, clinical departments, academic partners, industry sponsors and patients to deliver studies that improve understanding, treatment and care. Our research includes observational studies, interventional trials, academic studies, commercial studies, device evaluations and early-phase clinical trials.

By supporting research across many areas of medicine, we help create more opportunities for patients and volunteers to take part in studies that may shape the future of healthcare.

Gastroenterology and Endoscopy

  • Ulcerative colitis
  • Crohn’s disease
  • Gastroparesis
  • Eosinophilic oesophagitis
  • Bile acid diarrhoea
  • Interventional endoscopy
  • Bowel cancer risk prevention studies

These studies may explore new treatments, improve existing care, support earlier diagnosis or help us better understand risk factors and patient outcomes.

Oncology

Our Solid Tumour Research Team delivers clinical trials aimed at improving treatments and outcomes for people affected by cancer.

Research areas include:

  • Lung cancer
  • Breast cancer

Dermatology and Genetics

A broad and evolving research portfolio

Our research portfolio continues to grow as new studies open and new partnerships develop. Across all specialties, our aim is to deliver safe, inclusive and high-quality research that improves care for patients now and in the future.

Patients may be considered for research if a suitable study is available and eligibility criteria are met. Taking part is always voluntary, and our teams are here to provide clear information and support at every stage.
